Another Legend Retires?

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

One of the most prolific characters in the world of NASCAR is set to “step down” after this weekend’s Coca-Cola 600, the one and only, Humpy Wheeler.

Wheeler, who enjoys a long-standing reputation as one of the legendary promoters in racing, said all the right things, that he was looking forward to some time off, that his wife, Pat, was happy with the move, but the abruptness of the announcement and Wheeler’s own admission that the retirement wasn’t entirely on his own terms left lingering questions unanswered. “Some of it’s on our own terms, I won’t say it all is,” Wheeler said. “Some of it is … and I’ll let it rest at that.”

Humpy is Lowe’s Motor Speedway peroid.  Can anyone ever fill those shoes?  Not in our lifetime.

All-Star Challange 2008

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

What a great time at Lowe’s Motor Speedway for the “All-Star Challange” and Dale Jarrett’s last race, how cool was that!  I have always been a Jarrett fan and to see him drive the Big Brown Truck around the track was pretty cool, plus to see Dale’s dad Ned to the invocation was sweet.

The “Burn Out” Contest was a first, as well as the Fan Pick Casey Kahne winning the damn thing, and a caution free All Star race was unheard of.  Remember in ‘89 when Rusty and Darrell got together, or when Davy Allison won the race and then spent 2 nights in the hospital.

People watching was at a premium,

And the Junior Nation was there as well,

But we did meet some cool people,

This is Brian & Mary Beth Gipson from Kentucky, on their drive back home they renewed their wedding vows.

Can’t wait for the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday!  If I see you there, YOU might end up HERE!

Here’s George Jetson!

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

It’s not George, it’s Yves Rossy, a former military and commercial airline pilot turned nutcase, in a good way!  This looks like a blast, I wonder if I can order one of those things from Outdoor Traders?

That’s what happened to Charlotte’s own Tommy DeCarlo.  I know your thinking, what the hell, but check out Tommy’s MySpace page for your self, it’s a hell of a story.  http://www.myspace.com/tommydecarlo

You’ll see Tommy and the Boston gang soon here in the Upstate, but until that time, check out the Video of Tommy with Boston!

Can you say Uncle?

Wednesday, May 7th, 2008

If you are a Hillary Clinton supporter, things must be bitter, sweet for you right now, I’m going through that at home with the wife and the Mother In Law both Hillary supporters.  And of course me, being the token immigrant my vote doesn’t count at the polling place, and my house.

Yes, she do O.K. in Indiana and squeeked by Obama by 2, yes 2 percentage points and a campaign aid states the Hillary loaned herself 6.4 million dollars over the past month just to heep the lights on.  I do belive the “Fat Lady” is on the stage and knows the lyrics by heart, just turn on the damn microphone.  I’m still amazed how much money is wasted, yes wasted on a 3 years campaigning when the whole campaign season can be compressed into ONE year.  Think who much would be saved, how many people would still be interested in politics, besides the media.

Hillary, please get on stage with the Fat Lady and start the damn song, and Obama will be looking for a running mate…

This Makes Gas Look Cheap!

Friday, May 2nd, 2008

This is what I was talking about on the air today,

Think a gallon of gas is expensive?   This makes one think, and also puts things in perspective.
 Diet Snapple 16 oz $1.29 … $10.32 per gallon
Lipton Ice Tea 16 oz $1.19 ..$9.52 per gallon
 Gatorade 20 oz $1.59……… $10.17 per gallon
Ocean Spray 16 oz $1.25…. $10.00 per gallon
Brake Fluid 12 oz $3.15…….$33.60 per gallon
 Vick’s Nyquil 6 oz $8.35……$178.13 per gallon
Pepto Bismol 4 oz $3.85….. $123.20 per gallon
 Whiteout 7 oz $1.39……….. $25.42 per gallon
Scope 1.5 oz $0.99…………..$84.48 per gallon
And this is the REAL KICKER…
Evian water 9 oz $1.49…$21.19 per gallon.  $21.19 for WATER and the buyers don’t even know the source
(Evian spelled backwards is Naive.)
Ever wonder why printers are so cheap?  So they have you hooked for the ink.
Someone calculated the cost of the ink at $5,200 a gallon
So, the next time you’re at the pump, be glad your car doesn’t run on water, Scope, or Whiteout, Pepto Bismol, Nyquil or God forbid, Printer Ink!
